My two cents; Family ties, do they really bind?

Family.  You don't get to pick them, but you are supposed to love them anyway.  In some families that is easy, and in others it is easier said than done.

What I cannot understand is in a family where everyone always says, "We should get together more often!" and then only get together for funerals.  It is disappointing.  Of course time and distance are huge factors, but given enough time to plan, there shouldn't be any reason the distance remains an issue, if it means something to you, of course.

Unless the truth is you just don't like your family.  Which I believe is totally fine and acceptable, however make it known rather than hiding behind money or some other excuse.  If keeping up on facebook is enough for ya, more power to you, just own it.
